The first step in building an inground concrete/gunite pool is to create a detailed design plan that includes the pool’s shape, size, and features. In addition, the design plan consists of the pool’s location, orientation, and depth.
Once the design plan is finalized, the pool area is excavated to the required depth and shape. The excavation involves removing soil and rock to create the pool’s shape and size. At No Limit Pools & Spas, we take great care in minimizing the damage that can happen to the surrounding areas.
The next step is to install the plumbing and electrical systems that will run the pool’s filtration, heating, and lighting systems. This includes installing pipes, valves, and electrical conduits.
Steel reinforcing rods, or rebar, are installed in the excavated pool area to provide additional strength and stability to the concrete shell. The rebar is tied together to create a grid-like pattern that will support the weight of the pool’s walls and floor.
Wooden forms are then placed around the pool’s perimeter to create the walls and floor of the pool. These forms will act as a mold for the concrete poured in later stages of construction.
The next step is to apply the gunite or shotcrete mixture, a combination of cement, sand, and water. The mixture is sprayed onto the rebar and forms to create the walls and floor of the pool. The gunite or shotcrete is then smoothed and shaped by hand to create the desired finish.
After the gunite or shotcrete has been applied, the pool is left to cure. Once cured, the pool is finished with a surface material such as plaster, tile, or pebble aggregate. The pool’s coping and decking are also installed at this stage.
Once the finishing is complete, the pool is filled with water, and the filtration and heating systems are started. The pool’s chemical balance is then adjusted, and the pool is ready for use.
