TYPES OF WATER FEATURES

Bubblers

Water bubblers are always visually intriguing for adults and, you bet, children and pets alike. Bubbler fountains are animated water features that can be placed on tanning ledges, where small children and pets can frolic. In addition, they can be placed within a spa or anywhere.

Spray Fountains

Spray fountains are similar to water bubblers but generally taller, offering a sparkle to the pool’s water surface in the sunlight.

Water Bowls

Water bowls continue to rise in popularity as they can be round or square to enhance the pool aesthetic. The finishes can range from concrete, stone, copper, stainless steel and others to match the backyard decor, whether tropical, modern or other.

These vessels are best placed on a perch, such as a short column or raised retaining wall, so the water can spill out beautifully on its way into the pool.

For those who want to get more creative, consider a water bowl with fire. The combination of water and fire will undoubtedly bring a bit of drama with a mesmerizing effect.

Spouting Statues

Spouting statues is a popular water feature that combines art and water, such as a figurine, classical urn, animal or other to add personality to the pool. A stream can flow gently out, for example, from the mouth of a lion.

Scuppers and Spouts

Scuppers and spouts come in various finishes such as brass, copper, stainless steel and stone. They attach to pool elements like water bowls, retaining walls and elevated spas enabling the water to channel through the form and exit into the pool water.

Deck Jets

Deck jets are small flowing arcs of water that shoot from the deck into the pool. Depending on the desired effect, these tube-shaped streams of water can create a gentle water flow or a dramatic arc.

Laminars

Laminars are similar to deck jets but shoot a more focused, glass-like, thicker stream of water, reaching heights above six to eight feet.

Cascades

The cascades, also referred to as sheer descents, can be designed in various ways, such as with a raindrop pattern or providing the appearance of a smooth, even sheet of water as it juts out of a retaining wall or perch and descends softly with an arch into the water

Rain Curtains

Rain curtains are similar to cascades and sheer descents, just much broader. They are typically constructed on a frame-type structure alone or attached to the home or patio cover.

Spa Spillways

A spa spillway is built in an elevated inground pool spa. It has an open section of any size or can open all around at 360 degrees. The water beautifully flows over the edge and into the pool.

Reverse Infinity Pools

Many homeowners will choose to have an infinity pool for those backyards with beautiful views, also known as a vanishing edge or zero edge pool. Typically the water spills over the edge into a hidden catch basin. With a reverse infinity pool, the backside catch basin is built in the line of sight, perhaps by patio seating, island barbecue grill or other.
